Conducting a peer-learning workshop, in the framework of the Design Challenge Pilot (DCP) project.

On 5 and 6 February 2020, a thematic workshop was held between the DCP project partners at the Estonian Design Center in Tallinn.

This 2-day workshop aimed at the exchange of know-how between the 3 partners (KEPA - Greece, PDR - United Kingdom & EDC - Estonia) regarding the joint addressing of an urban social challenge with the participation of local companies.

More specifically, the representatives of the partners and members of the know-how exchange group, presented a series of services, programs and projects to solve social challenges using the Design methodology, in order to identify their advantages and disadvantages and to isolate those offered for developing a standard process for addressing a social challenge involving local businesses.

The main objectives of the workshop were to strengthen the ability of participants to provide services to address social challenges using the Design methodology and their ability to design and implement such projects, drawing on the experience and know-how of local businesses. At the same time, the participants designed the structure of the final deliverable of the project -Design Option Paper- (DOP), which will be further developed in the coming months. The aim is for DOP to be used as a "guide" by similar organizations, to address social challenges, with the active involvement of local SMEs in the Design process to be implemented. It is worth noting that during the DCP project, the consortium partners will use DOP to test it in practice.

In addition, during the workshop, project representatives had the opportunity to meet with Janno Siimar, Head of Design at the Velvet Design Agency, and discuss the methodology for addressing social challenges through Design.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No 853667.
